I was doing... a small portion of the speed limit yesterday in a 65mph zone, and an x5 (I’m assuming M, but didnt see) FLEW past me like I was stationary

I wasn’t a fan when it came out, but if it enables them to make things like a manual M5 then I’m fine with it.

I have never once referred to our X3 as an “SAV”. Or an SUV or crossover for that matter. I just called it “car”.

I’ve driven one of those; they’re monsters. It feels absolutely absurd in every way and the number on the speedo quickly looses all meaning. However, I just couldn’t trust it enough to corner quickly. I’m sure it can at very high speeds, but my basic instincts kept telling me it would tip over. Rides much harder than you would expect Brakes we almost more impressive than the engine. I suppose “would hoon again” is the Jalop way to describe it.

Ended up going for a xDrive35i instead for many reasons not limited to cost, reliability, and fuel economy (range per tank). I got the big wheels so mine still rides on 275 front and 315 rear tires just like the M (for some reason).

Love the big/wide wheel look on these X5s, one of the best SUV “stance” out there. There won’t be many moments you’ll get to use all the power in the M...35i will suffice. Same reason I am driving a 135is and not an M3 (although the M is always itching me somewhere lol).

Yeah they say it only makes 300 hp in the X5 but there’s no way a 5000 lb SUV is getting to 60 mph in 5.5 seconds with only 300 hp. It pulls at 100+ mph too even though it’s shaped like a brick. Way more fun to drive than I ever expected.

On the non-M X5, the big wheels also get you this cool lip along the fender edge instead of a flat surface, which really looks great. It’s only about 1/2 an inch but it really brings out the wide stance.

I really like the 135is, especially since it gets the hydraulic steering over the 235i and M2. Much easier to live with than an M3 especially when it comes to reliability. I’ve heard all kinds of stuff about E9X M3 owners having to get oil sent to labs for engine wear testing, coil packs going out, fuel pumps going out, transmission issues and all kinds of stuff like that.

We looked at a used previous-gen X5M before settling on a newer X3 with basically the same engine as your X5. And yeah, that engine is making more than any 300hp.
